Awards & Grants

***2021 silver award***

Dot didn’t enter us this year as we hadn’t done anything for obvious reasons.   Anyway, Mel Kirby from the Council who was presenting the awards said that he took the other judges to Blackley Forest and told them about the work we do. They were very impressed by the work we had done in the past.  We only went and won silver!  What a lovely surprise. So thanks to you all for your hard work in the Forest over the years.

Now let's continue the good work and win again next year!

Successful grant application

Good news!

We have been successful in obtaining a grant from the 2024 Park Life Community Fund to pay for a picnic bench to be sited in the forest near to the river.

We have been successful in obtaining a grant from the 2023 Park Life Community Fund to fund the placement of two new information lecterns at the Ellbourne Road and Kendal Road entrances to the forest.

We have been successful in our bid for a grant from the NE England Horticultural Society.

This is to purchase shrubs for the Kendall Road entrance.  These have been planted now, and we are now planning to put bark chippings down to keep the weeds at bay!
