Manchester Museum Visit
Above: the head of an ancient Egyptian king from the Middle Kingdom - this object is about 3600 years old!
The Friends of Blackley Forest were given a private tour of the Manchester Museum by Dr. Campbell Price, Curator of Egypt and Sudan.
After a look round the public galleries, we were allowed to handle some of the ancient Egyptian objects!
Right: shabtis were servant figures who were put in the tomb with the deceased person to do all his chores for him in the afterlife!
