Remembrance 2014

Pupils of Bowker Vale Primary School were joined by the Friends of Blackley Forest and representatives of Manchester City Council to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in war and conflict.

During the two minutes of silence we each thought about those who sacrificed their lives that we might live in a safer world, in particular those local soldiers who died in two World Wars and in more recent conflicts.

Robert Savage (pictured above) laid a new wreath on the bench that was dedicated by the school as part of their involvement in the English Heritage "Heritage Schools Project"at last year's Remembrance Day .

Some of the pupils read out poems they had written specially for the occasion (you can read two of these by clicking on the links to the left and right).
